Stardate:16.03.2406 Cochrane Mission: Needle in the Hay, Mission Day: 2 Stardate 2406.03.16 (Scorpian- Shuttle Bay- XO Jerad- 2011) Jerad had been heading towards Tanya Petrova's quarters when the ship announced that someone had entered the shuttle bay. "Computer, STS to outside the shuttle bay," he ordered. He appeared at the entrance of the shuttle bay. "Computer, shut down all ship interfaces with shuttle bay controls, excluding the door. After I go in erect a level five force field at the entry way." The ship beeped in acknowledgement. Then Jerad went in. The door closed behind him and he could see Tanya over the airlock controls. He could see she was tense, as she suddenly realized that the controls were not working for her. Jerad wasnt really surprised to see Petrova, but he was still disappointed. He had hoped that his assessment had been wrong, but as usual, Vulcan logic prevailed. They had brought Tanya aboard after here ship had, supposedly, escaped from an Orion Syndicate ship yard, full of much needed power cells and dilithium cyrstals. Jerad had thought that the explaination had been to pat, to simple. He also had trouble believing that the Orion Syndicate would have let her escape, let alone live through the experience. But Drake was most impressed by her tenacity, and brought her on board. Then they became much friendlier. Jerad did not interfere with Drakes "personal interests," he never did. He also knew how Drake was, and that the affair was doomed to failure. How could Tanya, how could anyone, compare to Drake's ghost love. It wasn't fair, for either of them. Now, here he was, face to face with someone he had come to like. And even though he wasn't sure he wanted to hear the answer, he had to ask. "Tanya! Why?" (reply Petrova) Jerad nodded sadly. "You understand that I can't just let you go." (reply Petrova) "Please Tanya," Jerad pleaded, "don't make this harder than it has to be." Comdr Tahlmari, 1925) As the nurse tended to Dr. Martinez, Tahl managed to steady himself on his feet. His skin was still crawling from passing through the transporter effect. He felt a hand reach out and steady him a bit. He was happy to see that it was Alex. She had given up on trying to get anything out of Julia until she finally comes around. What ever Black had injected her with, was quite powerful. He smiled into the face of his love and CO. "I'll live," he answered to her unasked concern. Then he walked over to the portable dispersion field and hit the button on top to switch it off. He could sense the field disipate. Then he turned his attention to the control panel. "Power is out everywhere. There are no lines of communication available." He could feel Alex's eyes burning into the back of his neck. He wasn't sure if it were simply her proximity, his... unusual contact with Julia, or Alex's own emotional turmoil, but he found the sensation a bit unsettling. Tahl turned to B'Lanor. "Lt, see what you can do about getting communications through to the Cochrane. If you make contact tell them not to send anyone else over at the moment. I believe that we have everything under control" (reply B'Lanor) Alex was still staring at him, silently. He could feel the bubbling turmoil of her emotions, raw and ready to burst. She was showing amazing control. Tahl tapped his comm badge. Now that the dispersion field was down he could make contact with the rest of the away team. "Tahlmari to Bell, report." (reply Bell) "Tahlmari to Ensign MacRath report." (reply MacRath) It was finally more than Tahl could stand. He touched Alex on the arm and he thought she was going to jump out of her skin. "Captain," he said to her, "can I see you in private for a moment." (reply Lowell) They stepped outside the Ops station and found a private area totalk. "Alex, are you alright." "Lt, see what you can do about getting communications through to the Cochrane. If you make contact tell them not to send anyone else over at the moment. I believe that we have everything under control" "Yes Sir" Fugan sat down infront of the stations communications terminal and began to access the com data. For several minutes he methodically worked his way through the system purging the various problems which prevented communication with the cochrane, after several failed attempts to establish a communications link; primarily due to the disruption generated by the Cochrane herself, he was finally successful in contacting the Bridge. "Lt B'lanor to Cochrane, we have effectively neutralised the opposing forces onboard the Royale and the majority of the station is now under our control. He could see the strain on Alex's face and his heart poured out to her. He pulled her into a tight embrace, Looked into her eyes. His face closed on hers and he kissed her. He could feel her reserve melt under him. She returned his kiss with more passion than he had expected. Alexandra tried to look to another way, but everything reminded her of Orson, she kept her eyes on Tahl. ~Please Tahl, take me out of this room before I explode… PLEASE!~ This could probably not stand this because he asked. When he touch her, it was like she was touch by a hot wire. "Captain," he said to her, "can I see you in private for a moment." “Yes!” They stepped outside the Ops station and found a private area to talk. "Alex, are you alright." “No… so angry…. I could…. "I live for danger." “There’s going to be plenty of it tonight. I’m starting to feel much better.” She rub his back. “I missed you!” A small laugh escaped from Tahl. "And I you. I really have to stop you from going on these missions. It's far to stressful on me." Alexandra put a small distance between them but kept his hands in his. “Sorry, but a part of me isn’t… I had to know, even if it hurts me.” She heard the door, it was T’Simmi, she seem concerned. "Well my dear," Tahl said, nodding to T'Simmi,"it seems our moment is over. Duty calls." “Actually my concern is about you Captain. I had time to assess your health, you would need 24 hrs of complete rest.” “That for now I don’t have. Lt. Comdr. Tahlmari patch that up for now.” She wanted to do a corner smile but just manage to hide it with another face expression, saying that it was out of her hands. “I’m going to be okay, the reason of my distress is gone from my sight.” “Are you sure? Lt. Comdr Tahlmari…” She wasn’t sure what to ask at that point, but scan Alexandra and turn to the First officer. "I believe the captain is best suited to assess her own emotional well being," Tahl tried to sound official. "I am certain that if she says she will be fine then we can believe her. How is the doctor?" He stepped away, grudgingly, and pulled the nurse away. “Dr. Martinez has some bruise, probably because of the way those men acted. The grenade didn’t do any damages, but knock her out… she feels disoriented right now. We need to get her to Sickbay for further exams.” T’Simmi look at Tahl and Alexandra at the same time. “Stay with her T’Simmi, Lt. B’Lanor will probably soon have that shield down.” “Yes Captain… I was just concern!” “I know, and I thank you… I will be okay and once this is over, I will take a 24 hrs off duty… I promise. Anything you want to add?” Alexandra look at Tahl. Tahl couldn't help but smile again. "Not in front of mixed company." He was still concerned but he could also see that Alex had regained her composure. "Let's go see how Fugan has done with the communications." She was thanking also her training, without it she would have made a spectacle of herself. Now back inside, she saw Fugan very active over the controls and it was time for her to get some information. She sat at another control and started to work. 2 Marine officers decided to follow her around and were behind her has she work the console. Retrieving information was her speciality and soon she had results once she broke a few security barriers. She found some juicy one also, they knew about Drake’s visit since a week, Annan was right and it could only mean one thing. The one problem was that no provenance could be found, who ever cover there tracks well. There was a traitor on board. Everything was recorded through her arm and archived, Orson accumulated a lot of stuff and also a cloaking device to attach to the station, the specification of it offer only that logical choice. ~Happy birthday Drake!~ Alexandra found a floor plan. “Tahl, Drake… I found the personal quarters of Orson and Black… I think it’s worth a good look. We can access them via this discreet lift over there.” (Reply from Tahl, Drake) “Let’s go… Lt. Alexandra went to the Orson’s bedroom and look around at first. She scanned the room, found a few hidden spot where padds, money, jewellery, and money. Alexandra took the opportunity that they were all three alone there to talk freely. “This Orson isn’t what I expected at all, or he got too confident. It’s now is loss. Drake, by the way… happy birthday! That station is yours.” (Reply from Tahl, Drake, anyone) (Posted from Laurence Durand) Stardate:2406.03.16 Cochrane Mission: Needle in the Hay Mission Day: 2 Stardate: 2406.03.16 (Casino Royale - Wells quarters - FO- Lt Cmdr Tahlmari - 1940) Tahl had gone with Drake and Alex to the personal quarters. He could not quite believe the room. A part of him found the room to be quite amusing. He walked up to Alex and whispered in her ear. "I think we could use some of the items in this room." And then he walked off, leaving with a smile. He began to search through the room. He wasn't sure what he was looking or, but he figured he'd kno if he saw it. His search became much more physical as he realized that Wells would never be returning here. He turned over the bed and began to empty out the contents of drawers. He stood in the middle of the room. This was reiculous. Stop and think. He had simply allowed himself to enjoy the destruction of the room, without an objective. "If I were Wells," he said to himself, "where would I put something of great value?" He looked around the room, and then something struck him as very peculiar. In this room of total decadence he found a picture of an elderly woman, whom he assumed was Wells' mother. ~That's strange.~ The voice of Bob came through. ~Now what would a creep like Wells being doing with a picture of his mother.~ ~Maybe he really loves his mother?~ ~You've got to be kidding?~ As Tahl contemplated the picture he heard Alex. "This Orson isn't what I expected at all, or he got too confident. It's now is loss. Drake, by the way... happy birthday! That station is yours." Tahl was shocked. He wasn't even sure tht they had the authority to do that. But what were they going to do with the station. They could have blastedit from existence. But it did supply a place of employment for many people. And it was in astratgic position. "I guess it's prrate law," Tahl said, looking at Drake. "Enjoy your new enterprise." (reply Drake) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.16 Cochrane Mission: Needle in the Hay, Mission Day: 2 Stardate 2406.03.16 (Blackhawk- control room- Orson Wells and Mr. Black- 1950) Wells couldn't believe what had happened. The loss of his precious station and then to have to be rescued by Black. What further humiliation could he suffer. Meanwhile all Black could do was belittle and insult the already crest fallen Wells. "You idiot. I can't believe that someone so incompetant could have been left in charge of such an important operation." Wells was inceensed. "EH! I was the one that called Drake's "Friends" to give him a warm welcome... How was I suppose they would be complete idiots." "And further more," Wells continued, "that federation ship was a wild card in this. We didn't know that they were in on it." "Obviously Drake was grossly underestimated," Black admitted. "The question is what are you going to do about it. And before the Boss finds out." Black new that he would have little to justify, although he may have to dance around some issues. However, if he played his cards right he could wind up with the remainder of Wells' holdings. Welles paced around, he was angry, he thought that he would witness Drake's death. As for the woman he suddenly recognized her. "Tell me, that woman... were you suppose to have kill her?" Black glowered at Wells for a moment. Never, in all of Black's career had he ever failed to complete his objective. He too had recognized the woman as someone who, by all rights, should be dead. "My mission was carried out as planned," Black shot back. "And she had been reported to have died in that bombing. Nobody knew that she had survived, or she would not be alive today." "If the other boss hears of this..." Orson pushed a few bottons on the controls and could see what was going on inside OPS, but he couldn't do anything to stop them. "What would you think of taking them by surprise?" he took out two phasers. Black thought about this for a moment. This could be the opportunity that he had been waiting for. If only he could convince Wells to do what he was thinking. "Yes," Black said, taking the weapon. "it would definitely be in both our best inteests to dispose of that loose end. And it might earn you some degree of redemption for loosing that station." Welles felt a bit relief that Black was thinking the same way that he does. "They have marines, security forces... we would need them to be away, or at least that Drake or that woman be elsewhere not with them. We need to pick are time." He played with the phasers, watching what was going on. "We need to wait for a more appropriate time," Black warned. "A time when they are away from all of that security. If I know this captain she will return to her ship, leaving her forces on the station. That would be a good time to strike." Then Black smiled, and evil little smile. "I will take on this job alone. I need to cover the evidence of my failure." He hoped that Wells would take this bait. "It's my station and you know it. I had the idea of it so... it's my job!" he barked. "Just take me out of there once I done it!" Black sighed. "If you insist. Afte all, you are in charge around here.' The sarcasm fell of his words like sap from a tree. Wells had takenthe bait, swallowed the line, hook and all. Oh he would take him there all right. "So what are you standing here for... let's get ready! I want to see there heads when I fire at them." He said turning his backs to Black having taken the other phaser, two would be much better for this, just in case. "You've got it. " Black turned to the controls and reset the cloaking field. Thus they were able to gather the relevant information relating to our operation and relay it to Mr Olson within the short time before our arrival and therefore allow him to prepare for the arrival of Drake and yourself. Indeed it is highly plausable in such a scenario that any agent would still remain onboard and therefore could presently be on either vessel. The second option is that for reasons currently unknown, a member of the crew of the Cochrane or the Scorpion contacted Mr Olson and informed him of the forthcomming rescue operation. In effect there may exist a traitor onboard either or both vessels, and logically that person or persons would still be present on our vessels. Therefore it is logical that if either of these two theories is correct then the person responsible is still within our grasp, although logic would conclude that the loss of Mr Olsons forces would persuade such an individual to vacate their position at the earliest possible opportunity. Thus the time remaining to apprehend any such individual is decreasing rapidly." (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.16 Mission : Needle in the Hay, day 2 Stardate : 2406.03.16 (USS Cochrane – Bridge – CO Lowell, 2008) Alexandra paused and look at everyone. “Any reflection!” "Logically there are two possible solutions for Mr Olson’s unexplained knowledge, firstly the organisation to which he belongs possess an advanced intelligence force which is able to conduct espionage operations at the highest levels of Starfleet, and indeed onboard this very vessel and the Scorpion. Thus they were able to gather the relevant information relating to our operation and relay it to Mr Olson within the short time before our arrival and therefore allow him to prepare for the arrival of Drake and yourself. Indeed it is highly plausible in such a scenario that any agent would still remain onboard and therefore could presently be on either vessel. The second option is that for reasons currently unknown, a member of the crew of the Cochrane or the Scorpion contacted Mr Olson and informed him of the forthcoming rescue operation. Thus the time remaining to apprehend any such individual is decreasing rapidly." “It couldn’t be us, some seem to be surprised that I was there. I’m thinking of Rosalia, expected but not sure it was me. We only knew about this mission 24 hrs ago… so who ever it is… that individual is on the Scorpion not here. I will get a protocol ready in case of major mission.” Alexandra look at her CSO for a moment. Then her eyes turn to her ATAC/SC, also a few others in the room. Then on Drake. “Drake, I think you want to go back to the Scorpion… You better do if we’re right… and come back. We have to iron a lot of stuff out.” (Reply from Drake) “I know… just go. Keep me posted!” Alexandra saw him leave the bridge, Rose wanted to go also and Alex said yes with her head. “Lt. B’Lanor, you proved yourself in countless times and is a valuable member of this crew. What would you say, even with your load has a CSO to be also Second Officer on board the Cochrane.” (Reply from B’Lanor) “Consider yourself a Second officer then. I will make this official later. Ensign Romonov, I was wondering if I would find the right man for the job… from what I saw and what Lt. Comdr. Tahlmari will probably agree that you are it… What would you said to be Chief Tactical Security officer? I know that you are new, that I barely know you, but from what I saw it looks good. So… Do you accept it?” (Reply from Tahl, Romonov) “Consider yourself Chief Tactical security officer. Other promotion will follow, but for now we have work to do. I can’t take any risk with are crew safety. We have work to do and it is repairing the Cochrane. Let’s get a move on! I will be in my office and after to my personal computer if you need me.” (Reply from Tahl, Romonov, B’Lanor and anyone) (Posted from Laurence Durand) Stardate:2406.03.16 Cochrane Mission: Needle in the Hay, Day 2. She barely said 10 words to Alexandra. Her eyes kept going from Drake to Alexandra, her heart was pumping and she slowly back away once the conversation was not including her. She wanted to go to Drake, he didn’t look good, a bit down and she wonder why. She was barely listening. ~Five minutes would be enough! Please!~ Then Alexandra said. Has they both step into the turbolift, Rose suddenly had a case of cold feet. She could feel the turmoil that Drake was in. “Computer, stop turbolift.” Rose took a deep breath and ask. “What happen over there? I feel you in pain.” (Reply from Drake) “What? Orson was the guy that…. And the other one also.” Rose was trying to look him into his eyes but he was trying to escape her. Rose took matter in her hands sort of speak, she grab his face in her hands to force him to face her. “I’m so sorry! I was so afraid for you and see you intact even with this pain.” Rose took him in her arms, and sob a little, all the events of that day made her want to shed a good cry. The cloaking technology had prevented even the displacment of space matter from being detected. And their sensors had been designed to penetrate even the most sophisticate of shielding technology. Wells had been impressed with Black's ship. He could have followed the progress of a Terillium virus wioth those sensors. It didn't take too long to discover the where abouts of the woman. This Alexandra Lowell. He began to salivate at the things he wanted to do to her, before he killed her. Black had manuevered the ship close to the cochrane, having to miss the patrols of fighters returning. Finally they were in position for transport. Wells found himself outside of the Captain's ready room. He quickly double checked to make sure he was not seen. Wells moved to the door and attatched a device to it. With the push of a button the door opened and Wells entered. He collected his device as the door closed behind him. He walked into the darkened room. He looked carefully around the room, knowing that the woman, Lowell, was there. Then he saw her, laying on a sofa, with an arm across her eyes. He looked down her body and could see her chest move up and sdown, with a slow, methodical rhythm. He licked his lips with a sudden thought of wanton lust. He threw the thought out of his mind. His primary objective was to kill. With that death on his belt, he was sure he could regain some favor in the eyes of the Boss. At the least, it might save his life. And to confirm the only kill that Black had missed would definitely hold him in some esteem. Silently, he made his way across the carpeted office. He pulled a hand weapon from his jacket. It was a cellular dirupter. A particularly nasty weapon, that destroyed internal cells, while leaving the epidermal layer in tact. A very nasty way to die. His other hand held a small phaser. He closed in on his quarry. She looked so inviting there, her jaclet open, exposing her top to him. He bit his lip. A little taste wouldn't kill him. Slowly, so slowly he put the disrupter to Alex's head and put his hand over her mouth. Her eyes shot open in panic, but she remained calm. "Move and die," Wells warned her. (reply Lowell) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.03.16 Mission : Needle in the Hay, day 2 Stardate : 2406.03.16 (USS Cochrane – Captains’s Ready room – CO Lowell and Orson Welles, 2020) She started to do some breathing exercise and concentrate, reaching a meditative state, so much so that she didn’t hear the door open. The weird part was that it wasn’t Tahl, but she thought that maybe it was a security officer checking up on her. In the back of her head, she knew that Orson and Black wouldn’t let go so easily, so she didn’t get alarmed even with that knowledge. Suddenly, a hand cover her mouth. Alexandra’s eyes shot open in panic, but she remained calm once she saw who it was. She was angry, furious… all the emotions that she bottled up were now in motion, she pass the barrier and now was waiting for the right time. In her head, the alarm went off, she wonder if Tahl would know, right now she had to act like he didn’t hear it and she had to think fast and win time. "Move and die," Welles warned her. Welles let enough space for Alexandra too talk. “How did you get in here?” She whispered, he felt the phaser at her temple. An evil twinkle came into Wells' eyes. "Does it really matter? What you should be asking is what I'm doing here. And to answer that, surely must already know." The evil look in his eye spread across his entire face. “Black put you up to this!” She could feel his eyes briefly looking at her throat, he lick his lips like he wanted to taste it. She kept her eyes on him. "Put me up to it?" Wells was astonished at the thought. "Nobody puts Orson Wells up to anything. In fact, he wanted to do this himself. He wanted to correct a mistake he made yeas ago. Now I will correct that mistake, and I will have my revenge for my station." The anger welled up inside the big man. The sudden memory of the loss of his station was overwhelming. His hand shook and a tear appeared in his eye. He gritted his teeth and almost looked away, "My station!" “You are a fool Orson, I know Black’s species… think. There’s just a few meters away from the bridge… You would have got more luck to kill me and get out of here if I was in my quarters. Black is an opportunistic man, he wants you dead. I saw him speak to you… he acts like he already own the place… your station.” Then he looked at Alex with a renewed interest. "And you..., and you my dear, need to pay." His hand tightened on the disrupter. Has Orson was looking into her face and Alexandra suddenly smiled, her cybernetic hand was near the one holding the disrupter and now she could sense Tahl closing in.. “Your a dead man Orson. I will enjoy seeing you vanish.” In a sudden move, fast like a cat, she grab his forearm and brake it, the weapon drop and she pushed Orson away from her. Orson didn't see it coming. With a cry of pain the disruptor fell to the ground. He looked to see his arm bent at an impossible angle. Tears welled in his eyes, this time from the pain. "You little bitch," he screamed and pulled the phaser around with his other hand. "I was going to share my pleasure with you, but now the only pleasure you will feel is death." He squeezed the trigger and watched to see the woman fall. Alexandra escape just by a hair the phaser blast, in her fall, she took the disrupter and didn’t move. She wanted him to get close to her, so she play dead. Tahl had felt the relaxation in Alex come across her. He thought that this would be a wonderful opportunity for them to have a ... moment alone. As he approached the ready room door, he sensed the change in Alex's demeanor. She was now on guard and tense. He held up the PADD he was carrying in front of him and put his phaser behind it. "Computer," Tahl said, "open the door to the Captain's ready room. Override code Yildarim 321." Then he entered the room. "Captain," Tahl said, "I've brought you this report." Wells smiled at the fallen Lowell. ~To bad, I could have enjoyed her.~ Then he turned at the sound of the FO's entrance. Wells turned to fire his phaser at him. Alexandra yell. “WELLES!” At the same time that he fire the phaser, she fire the disrupter and Orson fell on the floor. She got up to look at him, he was rapidly dying. “Death, I have been there, and I don’t plan to be near it so soon.” Wells could feel his internal organs tearing themselves apart. This was the fate he had envisioned for Lowell. And now it was his to feel. It was ironic. And now Black would have no one to stop him from taking over his assets. The sudden realization that he had been manipulated into this act by Black hit him. It was his last thought and as he died he began to laugh. Alexandra saw Tahl at the entrance, the alarm that a weapon got fired could be heard. The security forces arrived. “In my office, have medical take him away.” She was looking at Tahl. “I’m okay! Shaken but okay.” She whispered. Tahl's first move was to cross the room and hold Alex. He didn't bother to move away when the security arrived. "You may be okay, I'm a wreck," Tahl said . "I thought if I stopped you from away missions it would keep you from danger. Now I can see that you are dangerous everywhere." “It’s not over…. Come with me! You will know everything about who we are up against.” (USS Cochrane, Bridge, 2026) Alexandra arrive on the bridge, and went to the OPS control and open a channel. “Black this is Lowell… are you happy now?!” Black had watched the progress of events on his sensors. He had seen the life sign that was Orson Wells change to that of inert material. But Lowell was still alive. "Damn, that woman has more lives than of Betelguesian Wild Cat." Then he heard the hail. He smiled at the voice. At least he wasn't going to have to kill Wells himself. =^=Happy, well not exactly. If you had killed each other then I would have been happy. As it is, I will be content to be rid of Wells.=^= “I thank you for that, but why do I have the feeling that the order to kill me six years ago didn’t came from him? By the way, he knew at the end about your betray.” Alexandra gave a hand signal to try to trace the communication signal and also send a message to the Scorpion. =^=Wells was a fool, and he deserved whatever he got. If he made any realizations then at this point it is pointless, since he is now dead. As for past mistakes, be sure that they will be rectified. One dear captain. One day soon.=^= Black closed the channel and set his coordinates. He had to come up with a good story before he rendezvous with the Boss. Alexandra look at the Snider and he said no with his head. Black close the channel before he could. She turn toward Tahl. “Now… What do you think? Also, I would like to know why the internal sensors didn't pick up any unauthorised transporter activities.” (Reply from Romonov, Tahl, anyone) (Posted from Laurence Durand & Al Muir)
